RoR is fun to work, you might lose what remaining faith you have with ASP.NET when you work on your side project. :-D

My next side-project is going to be in Ruby on Rails, so I will finally get some hands-on with the framework and language.

I too am not so thrilled with .NET lately, however it is still my bread and butter. I think my faith in ASP.NET will be restored when I get some more practice with castle's frameworks. They look promising, and I am already toying around with Castle ActiveRecord.
