Water on Mars
I don’t know why this isn’t bigger news: NASA Spacecraft Confirms Martian Water, Mission Extended.
Laboratory tests aboard NASA’s Phoenix Mars Lander have identified water in a soil sample. The lander’s robotic arm delivered the sample Wednesday to an instrument that identifies vapors produced by the heating of samples.

Agreed, NASA’s 50th wasn’t as celebrated as I thought it would either. I guess stuff like this isn’t sexy nor directly affecting the pocketbooks of the common American enough to make it to the front page news. It’s all about price of oil and talks of alternative fuels, boo. Maybe that’s why I stopped watching TV news.

Maybe our expectations have changed, I don’t know, They found *WATER* on Mars! The fundamental requirements for life as we know it are liquid water, organic compounds and an energy source. The probability of of finding life on Mars just shot up by infinity!
